As the pandemic rages on and the election results hang in the balance, the world seems to have come to a standstill. It’s like we’re all just waiting for something to end so that we can get back to “normal.” But what does that really mean anymore? It probably doesn’t include unlimited snacks and daily happy hours that start shortly after lunch. Does anybody even know what day it is? Well, we do. Today is the day we are going to help you snap out of it!
At The Real Deal, we’re done waiting. We can’t control the outcome of the election or predict when COVID-19 will release its grip on the world. This is life now, and we can’t continue overeating and overdrinking indefinitely. This lifestyle is unhealthy. So, let’s focus on what we can control, shall we?
Just remember -the virus IS going to end eventually… as will the election… but YOU are not going to end! So, it’s time to envision how you want to go on. Stop focusing on these temporary distractions and all this stuff you have no control over, and channel all that energy into getting back to you. And that means getting your health in order, starting with whatever you’re about to put in your mouth next.
We’re looking at the long game here. Don’t wait “until the pandemic is over.” Don’t wait to “get back on track after the holidays.” Look- it’s always SOMETHING, right? Some reason to graze all day or skip breakfast only to eat a bag of chips later. If it’s not the pandemic, it’s the election. If it’s not that, it’s work. Or the holidays, the kids. Or whatever excuse makes sense at the time. Why keep kicking that can? Leave excuse-making to the politicians, OK? Let’s get real!
Every Day is a Gift
As the saying goes, “Yesterday is history; tomorrow is a mystery; today is a gift: that’s why they call it the present.” You can give yourself the gift of a healthier lifestyle now. You create the intention by making basic changes and smart choices every day. You can even start today!
Here are a few basic rules anyone can easily follow:
1. Eat breakfast EVERY DAY – ideally within one hour of waking up. Get your fat-burning motor revved up!
2. Do not skip meals – eat every four hours. Skipping meals will yo-yo between starving and binging.
3. Eat REAL meals that are solid, balanced, and substantial – add a protein, a carb, and a fat.
